Michael E. DeWitt MD :: Biography
Michael E. DeWitt, M.D. grew up in a small town in western Maryland. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and graduated with honors in 1977. He went to the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and after graduating in 1981 went into psychiatry. He did his psychiatric residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and completed a child psychiatry fellowship at Children's Hospital National Medical Center. After completing his training he worked at Wichita Falls State Hospital, where he was unit director for the two units which treated children and adolescents. He began a fulltime private practice in December, 1989 in Raleigh, NC. He continues to see patients of all ages and utilizes traditional psychiatric approaches as well as hypnosis and regression. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
